Apollo Tyres profit up 125% on strong sales growth, better product mix
Concerned about soaring raw material costs
Gurgaon, Haryana, May 9, 2008: The Board of Directors of Apollo Tyres Ltd today approved the company’s audited financial results for the fourth quarter and the financial year 2007-08. The Board also recommended a dividend payout of 50%, which will need approval at the company’s AGM later in the year. Consolidated revenues grew by 9%, while operating profit showed a growth of 50% from Rs 4.1 billion to Rs 6.1 billion. Given the Company’s Performance under Mr. Neeraj Kanwar, the board took a unanimous decision to elevate him to the Vice – Chairman for the next five years.

Hungarian Prime Minister invites Apollo Tyres to set up green field facility
On the sidelines of the Partnership Summit 2008, the Hungarian
Prime Minister, His Excellency Ferenc Gyurcsany and Chairman & Managing Director of Apollo TyresLtd, Mr Onkar S Kanwar, met this morning to discuss the possibilities of setting up a manufacturing facility in Hungary. The Prime Minister extended an invitation to Mr Kanwar and Apollo Tyres, which he accepted in principle, on behalf of the company, subject to Board approval and regulatory clearances

Apollo Tyres begins its Off-The-Road tyre production
The foundation stone for an exclusive OTR or Off-The-Road tyre production facility was unveiled today by Mr Onkar S Kanwar, Chairman and Managing Director, Apollo Tyres Ltd, at the company’s flagship manufacturing unit in Limda. This marks the beginning of Apollo Tyres’ entry into the OTR segment, with an initial capacity of 10 tonnes a day in the first phase of the project, to be scaled to 60 tonnes a day over the next three years
